Will they be selling the $20 day of tickets and how does that work?
A select number of orchestra seats (usually in the front two rows) will be on sale for $20 per seat on the day of each performance. Each city on the tour will either conduct a lottery or make the tickets available via a rush policy (first-come, first-served). There is a limit of two tickets per person, cash only, and these tickets are usually sold two hours before performance time.
Why are the tickets only $20?
The seats are very good, not obstructed or otherwise restricted. The producers wanted to make good seats available to those who otherwise can’t afford them. Jonathan Larson, Rent’s creator, was a struggling artist who wanted to make theatre accessible to everyone.
How long is the performance?
Two hours 40 minutes, including intermission.
